information
Pâhry. Major Obscure City, east of the Desert of SOMONITES. It ruled for over a century over the western half of the CONTINENT, and imposed the use of French as a common language (see LATREILLE). Starting in 671 AT, this city was the first to "regularise" itself. It hosted two great INTER-CITY EXHIBITS. Its OPERA HOUSE most probably connects with the Garnier Opera of Paris. ELEPHANTS are almost worshipped in Pâhry, despite the fact that there are no living specimens anywhere near (GC).
Palace of the Princes. Residence of the Princes of TAXANDRIA after the GREAT CATACLYSM. During the Eternal Present era, its bells were the only mean of marking TIME in the city (SEP).
Palace of the Three Powers. Seat of the government of BRÜSEL, originally designed by Joseph POELAERT. Identical to the PALAIS DE JUSTICE DE BRUXELLES, to which it is linked; except for the summit, which ends in a pyramid rather than a dome. Started in 671 AT, it took many years to finish it (EC, B, GC).
| Palais de Justice de Bruxelles. [Courthouse of Brussels] The largest known point of PASSAGE. At least one of its doors led to the PALACE OF THE THREE POWERS of BRÜSEL, but various renovations may have interrupted the link (GC). See FOUCAULT and Joseph POELAERT. |
|
Palais des mille feux [Palace of a Thousand Lights]. A lamp shop in BLOSSFELDTSTAD, property of Mrs. BOUCHINEY. While experimenting with aerial stereoscopy, MICHEL ARDAN crashed into its skylight, which had been built in the days when the city was still called BRENTANO (ODH).
Palazio. A casino in ALAXIS, designed by Paul Dufournet HOREAU and decorated by Ludovic DEL GIUDICE. This is where the start of the Carnival is signaled three times a year (INT). SAINCLAIR lost huge sums of money in this establishment (GC).
| Palingenius, Elias Aureolus. A
scholar living in The TOWER, famous for his LIBRARY and his remarkable collection of paintings. Gardian of
MILENA, he put her and Giovanni BATTISTA
on the road to the rest of the Obscure World (LT). Modern Obscure people consider him one
of their greatest philosophers, and a quay on the North Shore of URBICANDE was named in his honour (GC). See PALINGENIUS CIRCLE. Palingenius Circle. An influential group, opposed to the study of the SPITFIRE XIV-FRC (RM921) (EC). See PALINGENIUS. |

Papadimitrikopoulos, Konstantin. The jovial proprietor of the STORK CLUB (GC).
| Parc Royal. A green space in the heart of BRUSSELS. By design or by coincidence, its lawns and alleys trace the pattern of numerous Free-Masonic symbols. The Obscure connexion is undeniable, as there was an identical site in URBICANDE (GC, INT). |

Passage. To cross from one world to another. Passage Fatal (Le) [The Fatal Passage]. A fresco by Augustin DESOMBRES. 1905 AD, 690 x 380 cm (MAD).
Passages. Locations that allow one to cross over from one world to the other seem numerous enough, but are often fluctuating, badly documented and difficult to find. Several attemps have been made to date to compile them, mostly on the INTERNET, and some of the major sites are listed below. It should be noted that impermanence is a notorious characteristic of such points, and the authors of those lists decline all responsability for the inconveniences that might result from an unsuccessful attemp... See also COMPÈRE.
Passeurs. A French term usually translated as ferryman. The original meaning is not however restricted to boat handlers, and covers anybody who helps people to cross over to somewhere else. Those who can assist others in "passing" to the Obscure World are often artists, writers or architects, and they don't always realise that they have a special talent.
A few suspected passeurs :

Below: the Pavilion of Books
|
| Pavilion of Landscapes. One of
the last remnants of the Second INTER-CITY EXHIBIT

|
Below: the Pavilion of Panoramas

| Pavilion of Sodrovno-Voldachia. Prize winning project for the Obscure EXPO, conceived by architect Dmitry Borisovitch SUKHIN. This building, virtually empty and the focus of some controversy, is the perfect embodiement of the Obscure ideals: architecture is the supreme Art, and such a construction requires no content (INT). See SODROVNO-VOLDACHIA. |
