characters who contributed to change the history of religion in the LIGHTED WORLD: Jean Calvin, Clément Marot,
Théodore de Bèze and John Knox. A group of statues has been erected in their honour in
the middle of the Swiss city of Geneva. See GENOVA. Refused. Inhabitants of NOGEGON who lead non-symmetrical lives, and who are therefore refused access to the cities (N). Regensburg. A city of Bavaria, Germany, where a point of PASSAGE is supposedly located (PLI, GC). |

Regrets de l'architecte (Les) [The Architect's Regrets]. A fresco by Augustin DESOMBRES, depicting ROBICK. 1904 AD, 260 x 380 cm (MAD).
Reiner-Feest. With VON AMELUNXEN, he is the conceptor of an experimental vehicle, capable of reaching up to 800 MEGAFATHOMS an hour - for about 20 seconds (ETPV). See OMNIROUTE and WAPPENDORF.

Renard. Inspector Principal of the GWENDOLINE Red Quarter of MYLOS. He rules with an iron hand (GC).
Renard, Claude. A bande dessinée artist, with a very technical style. He has collaborated with François SCHUITEN to the making of the album Les MACHINISTES (CBD). See also GWENDOLINE.
Renard, Jeanine. An artist specialising in jewellery, wife of Claude. She has made several ornaments based on the sketches of her husband (CBD).
Requet (Dr). From the Neo-hippocratic Department of the BRÜSEL CLINIC. In our world, we would say that he practices homeopathic medicine (B).
Retour du capitaine Nemo (Le) [The Return of Captain Nemo]. A fresco by Augustin DESOMBRES. 1902 AD, 276 x 380 cm (MAD). See SAMAROBRIVE.
Reuquer. A city of NOGEGON (N).
Revanche de Neptune (La) [Neptune's Revenge]. A painting by David GASPARD, depicting the violence of the NEPTUNIC OCEAN, and that won the Grand Prize at the ALAXIS Salon (GC).
Reverso-chronocycli. A type of QUARX capable of reversing the flow of TIME (GC).
Rhodes, Harry. Pilot of the SPITFIRE (EC).
Ricardo. A barber of BLOSSFELDTSTAD. He shaved CHAMISSO (ODH).
Robertson Circus. A famous travelling circus on the CONTINENT. Several of its members seem to have had strong connections with TAXANDRIA. Mary VON RATHEN was part of the cast between 747 and 750 AT, under the name of LÆTITIA (EP). See AILÉE, MONSIEUR RAOUL, PIERRE & DANY, Edgar ROBERTSON and THARCISSIUS.
Robertson, Edgar. Director of the CIRCUS (above) that bears his name (EP, INT).
| Robick, Eugen. URBATECT, born in URBICANDE in 687 AT. One of the most famous characters in the Obscure Cities; he remodelled the South Shore of his native town, created the URBATECTURAL BRIGADES, was intimately involved in the NETWORK phenomena (MU) and wrote several books. He knew Augustin DESOMBRES, who had a bust of him, and attempted without success to reach our world in the hope that he might remodel it (FU, MAD, GC). Robur Hatteras, Ferdinand. Name of young FRIEDRICH's literary alter-ego (RA). An amalgam of names from characters created by Jules VERNE.
Room 1392. The ward assign to Constant ABEELS during his stay at the BRÜSEL CLINIC. It was fortunate for him that he did not have to remain long... (B).

Philippe BLAMPAIN, living in BRUSSELS
and an expert regarding the esoterical aspect of Obscure things. Their join project
of printing SCHUITEN posters on authentic papyrus, exposed
during the equinox on top of the Great Pyramid, is most interesing... Present at the
First and Second OBSCURE CONVENTION.

Rosse (Dr). Specialist of the right lung at the BRÜSEL CLINIC. His office was next to Dr. VIÉ's (B).
Roth. City(?) of the KAMOUR BLHYR, at the extreme south of the CONTINENT (GC). Famous for its canyon; it is impossible to tell if its cliffs are natural or have been sculpted by human hands. The NETWORK align itself exactly in its axis (A, MU). See also CHULA VISTA.
ROUTE D'ARMILIA (La). [The Road to Armilia] Only the first 19 pages of this story were published in issue 123 of (A Suivre) in April 1988 AD. The Casterman album became the fifth volume of the CHRONICLES in the same year. See ARMILIA.
| Royal Gardens. In BRUSSELS, a part of the Royal Domain open to the public for a
few days every year, and where can be found some remarkable greenhouses (QG). One of them, round in shape, is
perfectly depicted on some bottles of DOMAINE DE CALVANI
(GC). Another is reinforced by metallic girders which are, despite their seemingly
unique design, duplicated in the GARDEN OF PHILODENDRONS (A). Rudolph. Resident of the VILLAGE OF MYSTS, lover of URSULINE. Very proud of his famous Liquor of ORBEPALPE (C).

Ryad. A guide of TRAHMER, who hardly ever said a word. He was the only one to accept to lead Franz BAUER to SAMARIS (MS). In April 719 AT he had an urgent need for a second hand foot pedal assembly for his AEROPHELE (EC). The character bears an amazing resemblance to a soldier of the Commune, as rendered by Gustave DORÉ (CBD #87).
